8 Tips To A Healthy Halloween

1.     Walk with the kids when you go trick or treating to burn of some of those extra calories from the candy
2.     Give fresh fruit for trick or treating, with bite size candies
3.     Halloween is only one-day discard left over candy so you are not tempted to finish it all!
4.     Use the inside of the pumpkin to make a healthy dish or yummy fall soup when making your jack o lantern.
5.     Make some scary sandwiches with healthy fillings such as tuna, ham and salad and cut them into the shapes of witches hats, ghosts and cats.
6.     Get out in the yard and decorate make a fun game of it with the kids or friends, dressing up as ghosts and playing hide and seek
7.     Have a rocking Halloween party and dance the night away
8.     Practice portion control, so your waistline doesn’t give you a fright! and most of all have fun

 

A fun and healthy pumpkin recipe, for the inside of the jack of lantern
 
-       South Indian Style Butternut Squash
-

 pumpkin
 
Ingredients:
 
·       1/2 a butternut squash or any pumpkin
·        1/2 red onion
·       masala powder
·        Chili powder
·       Salt
·       Mustard seeds
·       Coriander seeds
·       4 dried red chilis.
 
Method:
 
1. Heat canola oil and pop mustard seeds add onion, coriander seeds and chilis, after 5 min add masala powder and chili powder to taste.
2. Add chopped butternut squash and cover with a lid cook on medium heat for about 20 min until soft.
 
This is a great and spicy dish rich in vitamin A, Vitamin C and Potassium.
